Child & Teen Counseling in Orlando & Longwood, FL

For parents looking for someone they can trust with their child — and for kids and teens who need a space that's actually theirs.

Choosing a counselor for your child is a big decision.

You want someone who's professionally trained, yes — but also someone who actually understands kids and families. As a father of three, I have a personal appreciation for the pressures parents face, the complexity of family dynamics, and the responsibility you feel when you're trying to find the right help for your child. That doesn't make me a better counselor on its own — but it does mean I understand what's at stake when you reach out.

Children

Counseling for children.

For younger children who need a space to process what they're feeling — in ways that feel natural.

Kids don't always have words for what they're feeling — and they don't need to. Counseling for younger children often uses play, creativity, sandtray, games, and activities that let them express and process what's going on in ways that fit where they are developmentally.

Parents are an important part of the process from the start. I work collaboratively with parents to understand what's happening at home and school, share observations, and develop consistent strategies that support the child's progress.

Teens

Counseling for teens.

A space that's theirs — to talk honestly without feeling managed.

Adolescence is genuinely hard. Teens are navigating identity, relationships, academic pressure, family dynamics, and a world that moves faster than most adults realize. They often need a space that's actually theirs — where they can be honest without worrying about how it affects the people they love.

Teen counseling here is collaborative and teen-directed. The goal isn't to report back to parents — it's to give adolescents the tools to understand themselves, manage what they're feeling, and navigate the challenges they're actually facing.

Areas addressed may include:

Anxiety and stress
Academic pressure and school avoidance
ADHD and focus challenges
Depression and low mood
Identity and self-worth
Peer relationships and social stress
Family conflict
Emotional regulation

About Play Therapy

Why Play Matters in Counseling

Children often communicate through play before they can fully explain their feelings with words. Play therapy builds on this natural form of expression within a structured counseling relationship, helping children explore challenges and practice new skills.

Depending on a child's needs, treatment may focus on expressing emotions, managing frustration, solving problems, building confidence, and strengthening relationships. Caregiver involvement can help families support these skills at home. The approach and length of treatment vary according to each child's goals and progress.
